A Pathway to Graduation
Penn State SOLID (SOciaL scientists for Increased Diversity) (Great Lakes Alliance for SbeS [GLASS] member)
Penn State has received a two-year grant from the National Science Foundation to develop and enhance programs for the improved recruitment, mentoring, and retention of African American, Hispanic, and Native American graduate students in the social and behavioral sciences and economics (SBE). Penn State received this Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professorate (AGEP) program award in partnership with Northwestern University; Ohio State University; Temple University; University of Chicago; University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign; and University of Wisconsin, Madison. Northwestern University is the coordinator of the new Alliance.
Penn State and its Alliance partners will work collaboratively to define best practices, refer talented minority students to Alliance schools where they are most likely to flourish, track impact and success (via Penn State's e-Portfolio program, among other methods), and disseminate findings to higher education institutions across the United States.
