Penn State Project Goals
Penn State will use the funds from this grant to:
- increase the number of annual recruiting trips and the number of minority students accompanying recruiters on these trips;
- coordinate an exchange program through the Graduate School that gives graduate students at Penn State and partner schools the opportunity to teach and conduct research at an institution very different from their own (e.g., Historically Black Colleges and Universities);
- create a minority post-baccalaureate program designed to bring talented recent college graduates to Penn State to work full-time on funded research projects;
- develop a series of workshops to bolster skills in statistics and methodology, scholarly writing, grant writing, and ethics; and
- develop communication aids to use in recruiting, retention, and mentoring that will highlight ongoing research and current researchers at Penn State of interest to minority students.
