Funding Opportunities
"Integrating HSD Goals into Core SBE Programs"
The NSF Directorate for Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences (SBE)
encourages submission of research proposals to the regular SBE programs
covering three areas: (1) complexity science, (2) large-scale

Collaborative Study of Suicidality and Mental Health in the U.S. Army
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), National
Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)
and the United States Army seek applications aimed at conducting an
epidemiologic study of mental health, psychological resilience, suicide
risk, suicide-related behaviors, and suicide deaths in the U.S. Army.
Letters of intent are due March 3, 2009; applications are due April 3, 2009.

Initiatives
The Penn State Office of the Senior Vice President for Research and the Office of International Programs are initiating a new program to enhance Penn State's involvement in the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN). Under this program, the two offices will provide seed grant support for workshops to develop WUN research programs. If you are interested in developing a workshop, please contact Terry Noll (tmg3@psu.edu) for further information.
