Families Interested in Research Studies (FIRSt) Database The FIRSt database is available to Penn State faculty for the purpose of participant recruitment. This database has volunteer enrollment of families through a variety of methods including newspaper advertising and distribution of flyers throughout select locales in the community. Flyers are currently distributed to schools in Centre County and beyond, distributed to new mothers at Mount Nittany Medical Center, and at other locations. Names are also entered from birth announcements in the Centre Daily Times. More information about the FIRSt database is available on the Information for Researchers page of the FIRSt website. If you are a researcher interested in recruiting children for your research, please contact Laureen Teti lot1@psu.edu or Jeanne Nettles jma22@psu.edu. The FIRSt database was created through a collaborative project in Liberal Arts and Health and Human Development that was funded by the CYFC.
