Penn State Institute of the Neurosciences (PSIN) Pilot Grant Program
Request for Applications
The goal of this RFA is to catalyze the development of new interdisciplinary research teams that address cutting edge problems in the neurosciences, and to assist them in the generation of preliminary data that support future applications for extramural funding.

New NSF Proposal & Award Procedures Guide (PAPP)
The NSF has just posted a revised version of the NSF PAPP (NSF 10-1). The new PAPP Guide will be effective for proposals submitted on or after January 4, 2010. Significant changes made to the PAPP include:
- Addition of a completely new proposal certification to address the responsible conduct of research requirement of the America COMPETES Act; and
- An entirely new requirement for PIs to provide a project outcomes report for the general public within 90 days following the expiration of the grant, to comply with the America COMPETES Act.

USDA CSREES International Science and Education (ISE) Grants Program
Penn State's Office of the Senior Vice President for Research is conducting a downselect for the 2010 USDA CSREES ISE grant program.
Deadlines:
Online Notice-of-intent to OSVPR: October 20, 2009
Access form
Pre-proposal Application: October 26, 2009 by 9:00 a.m.
Access form
USDA Deadline: January 15, 2010 (per last year)
University Limit: Two proposals (only one can be funded)
Specific program details
The most recent RFA is from 2009, with the 2010 RFA expected to be announced mid-November. OSVPR will share updated information as soon as the 2010 RFA is released. OSVPR will notify associate research deans of the internal downselect decision by the middle of November.

William T. Grant Distinguished Fellows Application Guide

Worldwide Universities Network (WUN): Research and Development Fund
Penn State's Office of the Senior Vice President for Research (OSVPR) is conducting a downselect to send forward proposals to WUN with PSU as the lead.
Deadlines:
Online Notice-of-Intent to OSVPR: October 16, 2009
Access form
Completed Application to OSVPR: October 30, 2009
Access WUN R&D application
University limit: Three lead applications
Guidelines
Matching funds are required (a minimum of one-to-one match of WUN funds) and OSVPR will provide up to $10,000 of matching for proposals on which Penn State is the lead, with the expectation that the balance of matching funds will be provided by other Penn State units or partner institutions. Commitments of matching funds from units within PSU will be considered as part of the downselect process. OSVPR will notify associate research deans of the internal downselect decision by the beginning of November.
