Education Professor Coauthors Writing Book
Linda H. Mason, assistant professor of special education in the College of Education, has coauthored "Powerful Writing Strategies for all Students," published by Brooks Publishing Co. Inc. in Baltimore.
Other coauthors are K.R. Harris, S. Graham and B. Friedlander. The book offers field-tested strategies to help elementary and middle school students, with and without special needs, who struggle with writing are presented. The book includes complete lesson plans that teachers can use to supplement their existing writing curriculum and advance all of their students' writing skills. These lessons address types of writing that are key to academic success; help with every phase of the writing process; reinforce new writing strategies and skills; ensure that improvements are sustained; support effective instruction; engage students; and include photocopiable instructional support materials.
