Mission
By strengthening and enhancing the visibility of policy research at Penn State, particularly in project and grant design, writing, and the dissemination of results, the University will gain:
- The national and international visibility that comes from large-scale and widely disseminated research results.
- Greater recognition among major granting agencies of our ability to undertake social, environmentally and policy-relevant research.
- Greater ability to forge ties with private foundations, corporations, and other granting agencies.
- Enhanced public service opportunities by fulfilling important public policy research needs.
- Alumni development opportunities as our research becomes more widely known for its impact.
- Teaching opportunities at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in both the various substantive areas of policy research and in research methodology.
- Research experiences and enhanced job placement possibilities at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
- Greater ability to recruit and retain top faculty.
- A larger and more integrated intellectual community here on campus.
