SSRI provides assistance in identifying and accessing social science data through the Population Research Institute's Data Archive. The following resources and services are available to Penn State social scientists:
PRI COLLECTIONS
SodaPop: Researchers at Penn State have access to all extractable datasets within PRI's Simple Online Data Archive for Population Studies (SodaPop). For information about how to use this resource, please see the SodaPop Help Page.
PRI's Collection of Data Links: This page contains links to data-related resources including recommended starting points, resources for particular disciplines, resources by geographic location, and information on data confidentiality.
DATA REFERENCE AND CONSULTATION SERVICES
The PRI Data Archivist is available to answer data reference questions and for consultation on applying for restricted-use data. For more information, contact Tara Murray.
PENN STATE UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES
ICPSR at Penn State: The Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) is one of the largest social science data archives in the world. The Penn State University Libraries have a subscription to this archive. All Penn State users are able to download public-use data sets.
The CAT (University Libraries Catalog): The Penn State University Libraries have a collection of social science data sets in various formats. SodaPop and ICPSR datasets may also be located using this catalog.
Penn State Social Sciences Statistics and Data: A portion of the Social Sciences Library Web site is devoted to statistics and data resources for the Social Sciences.
Stephen Woods: The Data and Government Documents librarian for Penn State University Libraries. Mr. Woods is available to answer data reference questions and assist users with secondary data acquisition.
