Mission

The Social and Life Sciences Imaging Center (SLIC) seeks to foster cutting edge interdisciplinary research in the social, life, and engineering sciences by providing investigators access to a shared pool of resources for magnetic resonance, electrophysiological, and optical imaging. A joint venture of the Social Sciences Research Institute (SSRI) and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences, the SLIC consists of three interrelated components: an animal MRI and optical imaging facility, the Human Electrophysiology Facility (HEF), and a human MRI facility. The SLIC provides the Penn State research community with the highest quality instrumentation, technological and substantive expertise, educational opportunities, and financial support. The Center also serves as a point of connection for researchers throughout the University and the Penn State College of Medicine.

The SLIC is located in space in Chandlee Laboratory that is currently under renovation. Center staff are available to consult with investigators who wish to use the SLIC's facilities for their research.
