Field Interviewers with Family Foundations II

Family Foundations II

The Project

Dr. Mark Feinberg has contracted with Penn State's Survey Research Center (SRC) to collect data that will evaluate the effectiveness of the Family Foundations Program. Family Foundations is a series of eight interactive classes designed for expectant couples. The current study is designed to collect information that will provide a better understanding of how families cope with the birth of a new baby. Local field interviewers will be visiting families in either Baltimore, MD or the Hershey/Harrisburg area in Pennsylvania to conduct the in-home interviews.

Interviewer Roles

While job responsibilities can vary from one SRC project to another, interviewers for the Family Foundations II project are responsible for obtaining informed consent, administering carefully developed questionnaires, and videotaping couples as they discuss family-related issues.

Field interviewers for the project have flexible schedules that allow for part-time work in the evenings and on week-ends, are self-motivated and reliable, have cleared a background check, and have received extensive in-person training on the principles of interviewing as well as the specifics of the project.

The Interviewers

The following interviewers all have unique backgrounds and varied experience, that round out the SRC's team of professionals dedicated to providing the best service to our clients while protecting the integrity of the project and respecting the rights of our research participants.

Kejuana grew up in Philadelphia and currently resides in Baltimore. She graduated from Morgan State University in 1998 where she received a bachelor's degree in mental health, then went on to receive her master's degree in education administration from Johns Hopkins University in 2005. Currently Kejuana is working with Penn State part-time as a local recruitment coordinator for the Family Foundations II project in Baltimore. Her life goal is to help promote and encourage the empowerment of women and communities and is interested in opening and running her own private pre-primary school. She also works at Johns Hopkins University full-time as a project coordinator for the Asthma Behavioral Research Study.

CandiceAs a senior at Penn State Harrisburg, Candice is majoring in psychology. She plans on taking two years off after this year before continuing on with her study for a master's degree in early childhood psychology, specifically school guidance counseling. She has an associate's degree in elementary education but decided that the best way to make a difference in the lives of young children is to be a counselor-- thus being able to give one on one attention to help meet their needs. She is an energetic and dependable person, and a great asset to our team.
